bioMérieux mini VIDAS Immunoassay Analyser — Model Service

Sections, pipettor, optical scanner, QCT, annual maintenance, error codes and alignments on the mini VIDAS

A model course for engineers who have passed Lab Analyser Service — Level 1, and ideally Level 2. It takes the mini VIDAS apart on paper: the ELFA strip and SPR, the two independent sections with their heated blocks, trays and six-channel pipettors, the flash-lamp fluorometer on its moving scanner, the solid standard and auto-calibration, and the three levels of controller boards. Then the work itself: start-up, temperature and QCT checks, calibration strips and what QC proves, the annual maintenance in the right order, fault-finding from the four error groups to one section and one assembly, part replacement with the follow-up each part needs, the section, scanner and optics adjustments, and a return to service that waits for the laboratory's standards and QC. Independent course: not affiliated with or endorsed by bioMérieux. bioMérieux, VIDAS and mini VIDAS are trademarks of their owner; other names are trademarks of their respective owners.

01

You know how a lab analyser works. This course is about how this one fails and how to bring it back.

  • The mini VIDAS is a long-lived instrument found in small laboratories, food and veterinary labs, and engineers meet it with a generic analyser background and an old service manual organised by board and procedure rather than by fault.
  • Typical calls end with a pump, tray or board replaced while the real cause was a mismatched SPR, a worn grommet, a faded reflective cover, a dirty tray reflector or a sensor that was never realigned.
  • After repairs the follow-up is skipped: no section or scanner alignment, no optics calibration, no QCT in all twelve positions, and the laboratory is not told to rerun its standards before patient testing.
02

After the course you can

01Name the main assemblies of the mini VIDAS, explain what each contributes to a result and which board controls it, and place a fault in one section or in the shared parts.
02Run and interpret start-up, temperature, calibration strip and QCT checks, and explain how master lot data, standards, auto-calibration and controls fit together.
03Carry out the annual preventive maintenance in the manufacturer's order with decontamination, wear-part replacement, correct lubrication, optics care and a trend record.
04Locate faults from the error groups, the diagnostic terminal, the test protocols and the section-versus-section comparison to one assembly or board.
05Replace assemblies at procedure level with the right follow-up, perform section, scanner and optics adjustments in order, and release the instrument only after checks, QCT and the laboratory's standards and QC.

Curriculum

01The platform: ELFA, sections, pipetting, the optical scanner, electronics, printer and LIS
Name every major assembly of the mini VIDAS, explain what it contributes to a result and know which board controls it, so that any later fault can be placed on the right block.

02Checks and quality control: start-up, temperatures, optics and pipetting, master lot, standards and QC
Run and interpret the mini VIDAS start-up, temperature, optics and pipetting checks, explain how master lot data, standards and auto-calibration fit together, and say what a passed QC proves and what it does not.
22 min
03Maintenance: the annual visit, decontamination, mechanics, optics and records
Plan and carry out the mini VIDAS annual preventive maintenance in the manufacturer's order, with decontamination, wear-part replacement, lubrication rules, optics care and a record that shows trends.
23 min
04Troubleshooting: error groups, temperature, pipetting and mechanics, optics, invalid runs and communication
Take a mini VIDAS fault from the error code or complaint to one section, one assembly or one board, using the error groups, the diagnostic terminal, the test protocols and the section-versus-section comparison.
25 min
05Repair and return to service: decontamination, part replacement, adjustments, calibration and records
Replace mini VIDAS assemblies at procedure level with the follow-up adjustments each one requires, perform the section, scanner and optics adjustments in the right order, and return the instrument to service only after checks, QCT and the laboratory's calibration and QC.

The certificate

Pass the exam and get a certificate of course completion with your name, hours and score. Every certificate has a unique number and a public verification page, so an employer or a customer can check it in one click. It confirms completion of the course; it is not an educational document (diploma) and not a manufacturer authorisation.

FAQ

Is this bioMérieux training?

No. It is an independent course, not affiliated with or endorsed by bioMérieux. bioMérieux, VIDAS and mini VIDAS are trademarks of their owner, and other names are trademarks of their respective owners. The course does not replace the manufacturer's procedures and does not grant authorisation, access codes, passwords or software.

Do I need the service manual?

Yes. You should have the manufacturer's service manual and operator's manual for the instrument and software level you work on. The course explains the instrument and orders the work; exact procedures, acceptance values, settings and part numbers come from that documentation. The course was written from an older edition of the service manual, and later units may differ.

Does it cover the VIDAS and VIDAS 3?

It is written for the mini VIDAS. The larger VIDAS instruments share the ELFA principle and many concepts, but their construction, boards and procedures differ; use their own documentation.

Does it cover software updates and assay protocol loading?

Only at procedure level: who may do it, what to back up and what to check before and after. The steps are the manufacturer's and are done by authorised personnel with the proper media.

What does the certificate say?

bioMérieux mini VIDAS Immunoassay Analyser — Model Service (Endorsement), with your name, the hours, the date and your exam score, a unique number and a public verification page.

Can my company buy seats for a team?

Yes: five seats and a progress overview for the manager.
