Canon (Toshiba) Aquilion CT — Model Service

Platform, checks, maintenance, fault-finding and return to service on the Aquilion family

Part of the program: CT Service Engineer — full program (13 h) →

A model course for engineers who have passed CT Service — Level 1. It takes the Aquilion family apart on paper: Aquilion 16, 32 and 64, ONE, Prime and Prime SP, LB and CXL. Its gantry, couch and consoles by the names its documentation uses, the warm-up and calibration order, the backups that save a reinstall, the PM wear points engineers actually find, fault-finding from over kV to a degraded RAID, and tube, disk and software replacement with the calibrations and checks before release. Built on resolved field cases. Independent course: not affiliated with or endorsed by Canon Medical Systems or Toshiba. Canon, Toshiba and Aquilion are trademarks of their owners.

01

You know how a CT works. This course is about how an Aquilion fails.

  • Aquilion scanners of the 16, 32 and 64 generation run in many hospitals without a manufacturer contract, and engineers meet them with a generic CT background and partial documentation.
  • Calls end in an expensive tube or detector while the real cause is a small supply on the generator chain, a slipping brake in the couch, a damaged fibre or a disk of the wrong firmware.
  • Software is reloaded without a full backup, and calibration data, scan protocols and the files the reconstruction server needs to start are lost with the old installation.
02

After the course you can

01Identify the Aquilion model, type number and software generation, and name its gantry, couch, console, reconstruction and storage assemblies.
02Audit and run warm-up, air calibration, phantom detector calibration and daily QA in a sound order, read the error log by subsystem and back up everything the machine depends on.
03Carry out preventive maintenance on slip ring, cooling, couch, tube and generator, detector, computers and UPS, with tube-use tracking and safety checks.
04Find faults in the X-ray chain, rotation, couch drive, detector and DAS, raw data and image storage and DICOM network, cheapest and likeliest first.
05Prepare tube, disk, console and software replacements at procedure level, choose the calibrations each repair requires, and release the scanner only with QA, radiation checks and records.

Curriculum

01The Aquilion platform: family, assemblies and the path from tube to image
Identify which Aquilion model and software generation is in front of you, name its main gantry, couch and console assemblies as the Aquilion documentation names them, and follow power, X-rays and data from the power distributor to the image on the display console.

02Daily and periodic checks: warm-up, calibrations, phantom QA, logs and backups
Audit and run the Aquilion's warm-up, air and phantom calibrations in the right order, judge a daily phantom result, read the error log by subsystem, and make a complete backup of site-specific data before anyone touches the software or the disks.
22 min
03Preventive maintenance on the Aquilion: rotor, cooling, couch, tube, computers and safety
Plan and carry out an Aquilion preventive maintenance visit by subsystem, track tube use, recognise the family's known wear points, and complete the electrical and radiation safety checks and records before handing the scanner back.
24 min
04Fault-finding on the Aquilion: X-ray chain, rotor, couch, detector, disks and network
Take an Aquilion fault from symptom to subsystem using the error log and the conditions under which it appears, and work through the typical faults of the X-ray chain, rotor, couch, detector and DAS, raw data and image storage, and DICOM network in a cheap-and-likely-first order.
25 min
05Replacements and return to service: tube, disks, software, calibrations and release
Prepare and supervise an Aquilion tube replacement, a disk or console replacement and a software reload at procedure level, choose the calibrations each repair requires, and release the scanner only after QA, radiation checks and a complete record.

The certificate

Pass the exam and get a certificate of course completion with your name, hours and score. Every certificate has a unique number and a public verification page, so an employer or a customer can check it in one click. It confirms completion of the course; it is not an educational document (diploma) and not a manufacturer authorisation.

FAQ

Is this Canon or Toshiba training?

No. It is an independent course, not affiliated with or endorsed by Canon Medical Systems or Toshiba. Canon, Toshiba and Aquilion are trademarks of their owners. The course does not replace the manufacturer's procedures and does not grant authorisation, passwords, licences or access to service software.

Do I need the service manual?

You should have the manufacturer's service and operator documentation for the scanner and software version you work on. The course explains and orders the work; the exact procedures, limits and part numbers come from the documentation for your system.

Does it cover software installation and options?

Only at procedure level: who may do it, what to back up and record before, and what to check after. The steps themselves are the manufacturer's and are done by authorised personnel with the proper licences, keys and media.

Which models are covered?

The Aquilion family as engineers meet it: Aquilion 16, 32 and 64, Aquilion ONE, Prime and Prime SP, LB and CXL. Differences between models are given only where a source supports them.

What does the certificate say?

Canon (Toshiba) Aquilion CT — Model Service (Endorsement), with your name, the hours, the date and your exam score, a unique number and a public verification page.

Can my company buy seats for a team?

Yes: five seats and a progress overview for the manager.
