Eschweiler Combiline Blood Gas and Electrolyte Analyser — Model Service
Sensors, liquid calibration, light barrier, fluidics, adjustments and fault-finding on the combiline BGA, ISE, BGA+E and meta
A model course for engineers who have passed Lab Analyser Service — Level 1 and ideally Level 2. It takes the Eschweiler combiline apart on paper: the builds and how to tell them apart, the rebuildable sensors, the liquid calibrants in bags instead of gas cylinders, the sample light barrier that decides most transport faults, the thermostat with its separate regulation and indication circuits, and the few boards behind them. Then it covers start-up and calibration data as evidence, the service test programs, QC levels and what each proves, maintenance of membranes, tubing and pumps, fault-finding from message group to part, and repair with the follow-up adjustments in the right order and a proper return to service. Independent course: not affiliated with or endorsed by Eschweiler. Eschweiler and combiline are trademarks of their owner; other names are trademarks of their respective owners.
You know how a blood gas electrode works. This course is about where this analyser goes wrong.
- The combiline is a small, robust analyser that often stays in service for many years, frequently without a manufacturer engineer nearby, and its service manual describes boards and adjustments but not error messages or a maintenance schedule.
- Typical calls end with a sensor or a board ordered while the real cause was flattened pump tubing, a dirty light barrier capillary, an empty reference reservoir, a wrong barometer reading or an expired calibrant bag.
- After a repair the follow-up adjustments are skipped, settings and Hb factors are lost, only the normal QC level is run, and the analyser goes back to patients on trust.
After the course you can
Curriculum
Identify which combiline build is in front of you, trace a sample from the port to the waste bottle, and name the sensor, valve, pump or board responsible for each step.free
22 min02Checks and quality control: start-up, calibration cycles, sensor parameters, service tests and QC levels
Bring a combiline from cold to ready, read its calibration and sensor parameter data as evidence of sensor condition, use the service test programs to check the subsystems and decide what each QC level does and does not prove.22 min03Maintenance: operator routines, the engineer's visit, sensor care, tubing and pumps, calibrants, cleaning agents and records
Plan and carry out combiline maintenance in the right order, including sensor membrane and fill solution care, tubing and pump service and protein removal, safely and with a record that shows trends.22 min04Troubleshooting: message groups, calibration failures, drift and noise per sensor, fluidic faults and temperature
Take a combiline fault from the message or complaint to a sensor, consumable, tube, valve, pump or board, using the service test programs and the analyser's own measurements as evidence.24 min05Repair and return to service: decontamination, part replacement, adjustments, calibration, QC and records
Prepare a combiline safely for repair, replace sensors, valves, pumps, the light barrier capillary and boards at procedure level, carry out the follow-up adjustments in the right order and release the analyser only after calibration, QC and a complete record.24 min—Exam

The certificate
Pass the exam and get a certificate of course completion with your name, hours and score. Every certificate has a unique number and a public verification page, so an employer or a customer can check it in one click. It confirms completion of the course; it is not an educational document (diploma) and not a manufacturer authorisation.
Who it is for
Who it is for
- Engineers who have completed Lab Analyser Service — Level 1 or have equivalent experience
- Hospital biomedical teams and independent service companies maintaining Eschweiler combiline analysers
Who teaches
Written by a service engineer working with medical equipment since 2014, including 6.5 years at GE Healthcare and service supervision at Mindray, together with the engineers of Service Engineer.
FAQ
Is this Eschweiler training?
No. It is an independent course, not affiliated with or endorsed by Eschweiler. Eschweiler and combiline are trademarks of their owner, and other names are trademarks of their respective owners. The course does not replace the manufacturer's procedures and does not grant authorisation, passwords or access to service software.
Do I need the manufacturer's documentation?
Yes. You should have the service manual and the operator instruction manual for the analyser and software revision you work on. The course explains and orders the work; the exact procedures, acceptance limits, adjustment values, message texts and part numbers come from that documentation.
Which versions does it cover?
It is written from the service manual version 4.01 for analyser software revision 2.500 and covers the BGA, ISE, BGA+E and meta builds with the optional Hb sensor. Older or newer analysers may differ in calibrant format, boards and software; check against their own documentation.
Does it cover software changes?
Only at procedure level: who may do it, what to record before and what to verify after. The steps themselves are the manufacturer's and are done by authorised personnel with the proper media.
What does the certificate say?
Eschweiler Combiline Blood Gas and Electrolyte Analyser — Model Service (Endorsement), with your name, the hours, the date and your exam score, a unique number and a public verification page.
Can my company buy seats for a team?
