A model course for engineers who have passed Dialysis Equipment Service — Level 1 and ideally Level 2. It takes the 4008 S apart on paper, with the E, B and H differences where they matter: the hydraulic path from water inlet to drain with its numbered parts, the balancing chamber and UF pump, concentrate and bicarbonate dosing, the blood pump, heparin pump and air detector modules, the two CPUs and the power supply. It then reads the T1 test step by step and shows what each step proves and what it does not, walks through the technical safety checks and maintenance list, decodes the error groups from T1 F-codes to UF failures, and ends with repair and return to service. You know how a dialysis machine works. This course is about how this one tells you what is wrong.
- The 4008 is one of the most widespread haemodialysis machines in the world, often kept running for many years after the end of its first service contract, and engineers meet it with a generic dialysis background and a technical manual organised by test step and board rather than by the complaint from the ward.
- Typical calls end with a board, a valve or a pump replaced while the real cause was a worn O-ring in a dialyser coupling, a blocked filter sieve, a loading pressure nobody measured, a concentrate tube in the wrong place or a disinfection program that failed and left a flag.
- After a repair the T1 test passes and the machine goes back to the unit, although nobody checked conductivity and temperature with an independent meter, collected the UF pump volume, measured leakage or recorded what was adjusted.

Do I need the technical manual?
You should have the manufacturer's technical manual and operating instructions for the machine, software and options you work on. The course explains and orders the work; the exact procedures, acceptance values, configuration settings and part numbers come from the documentation for your edition and software.
Which models are covered?
The reference is the 4008 S. Differences of the 4008 E, B and H are pointed out where the technical manual states them, such as the display boards, the UF monitor or screen, and the power logic board. The 5008 and other machines are mentioned only in general terms; their hydraulics, boards and tests differ.
Does it cover software, options and calibration?
Software reload and options only at procedure level: who may do it, what to back up and what to check before and after. Calibration is described at procedure level, in the order and with the instruments it needs. The steps themselves are the manufacturer's and are done by authorised personnel with the proper tools and media.
