GE Brivo OEC 850 Mobile C-arm — Model Service
Platform, checks, maintenance, fault-finding and return to service on the Brivo OEC 850 mobile C-arm
A model course for engineers who have passed Angiography and C-arm Service — Level 1, and ideally Level 2. It takes the Brivo OEC 850 apart on paper: the mechanics and brakes, the resonant inverter and the monoblock, the collimator, intensifier, camera and CCU, the workstation and the interlock loop; the manual's function, generator, image and dose checks; a full periodic maintenance; fault-finding from the panel code and the log to one replaceable unit; and repair with the calibrations, safety tests and paperwork that must follow. Independent course: not affiliated with or endorsed by GE HealthCare. GE, Brivo and OEC are trademarks of their owner; other names are trademarks of their respective owners.
You know how a C-arm works. This course is about how this one is checked, kept and brought back.
- The Brivo OEC 850 is a common compact C-arm in theatres and emergency rooms, and engineers meet it with general C-arm knowledge and a manual organised by chapter rather than by the fault in front of them.
- Typical calls end with a board or even a monoblock ordered while the cause was a loose board in the interlock loop, a worn footswitch cable, a camera and CCU mismatch, a measurement taken in the wrong geometry or a forgotten lead sheet on the intensifier.
- After a replacement, the calibrations are done out of order or not at all, the dose and electrical safety tests are skipped, and the C-arm goes back to the surgeon on trust.
After the course you can
Curriculum
Name every field-replaceable assembly of the Brivo OEC 850, say where it sits, what it does in the power-up and exposure sequence and how it typically fails, so that later fault-finding starts from the right block.free
22 min02Checks: power-on, mechanics, generator accuracy, image quality and dose
Run the Brivo OEC 850 function, generator, image and dose checks in the manual's order with calibrated instruments and proper radiation protection, and decide from the results which calibration or repair is needed.24 min03Maintenance: PM plan, mechanics, cables, heat, cleaning, records and your own protection
Plan and carry out a complete periodic maintenance on a Brivo OEC 850, including the mechanical and cable work the checklist only hints at, and leave a record that shows trends.21 min04Troubleshooting: messages, no X-ray, generator, image, motion and communication faults
Take a Brivo OEC 850 fault from the message and the complaint to one field-replaceable unit or cable, using the message groups, the log viewer, the boot sequence and safe split tests.25 min05Repair and return to service: FRU replacement, calibrations, acceptance tests and documentation
Replace a Brivo OEC 850 assembly safely at procedure level, run the calibrations that the replacement requires in the manufacturer's order, prove the system with acceptance or constancy tests and electrical safety tests, and document the release.23 min—Exam

The certificate
Pass the exam and get a certificate of course completion with your name, hours and score. Every certificate has a unique number and a public verification page, so an employer or a customer can check it in one click. It confirms completion of the course; it is not an educational document (diploma) and not a manufacturer authorisation.

FAQ
Is this GE HealthCare training?
No. It is an independent course, not affiliated with or endorsed by GE HealthCare. GE, Brivo and OEC are trademarks of their owner, and other names are trademarks of their respective owners. The course does not replace the manufacturer's procedures and does not grant authorisation, passwords or access to service software.
Do I need the service manual?
Yes. You should have the manufacturer's service documentation for the system you work on, such as the Brivo OEC 850 Product Service Manual for your revision. The course explains and orders the work; the exact procedures, tolerances, torques and part numbers come from that documentation.
Does it cover the OEC 9900, OEC Elite or other C-arms?
No. Those are different platforms with their own boards, software and procedures. The method of the course transfers to other mobile C-arms, but their details do not; use their own documentation.
Does it cover calibrations and software installation?
At procedure level: which calibrations follow which replacement, in what order, and what to back up and check before and after software work. The steps themselves are the manufacturer's and are done by authorised personnel with the proper access and media.
Does it cover radiation safety rules in my country?
It teaches conservative working practice and points to where national rules apply, such as dose limits, acceptance testing and notifications. The binding requirements are those of your national regulator and the hospital's radiation safety officer.
What does the certificate say?
