GE Revolution EVO and Maxima CT — Model Service

Platform, daily checks, planned maintenance, fault-finding and return to service on the Revolution EVO and Revolution Maxima

A model course for engineers who have passed CT Service — Level 1, and a natural companion to Level 2. It takes the Revolution EVO and Revolution Maxima apart on paper: gantry and slip ring, tube, generator and Clarity detector, tables and consoles under the names their documentation uses, the power chain from the main disconnect through the PDU and partial UPS, room climate and network. Then the routine and what each check proves, planned maintenance in a safe order, fault-finding from the first error in the log, and replacements with the calibrations, dose and safety checks that must come before patients. Built on resolved field cases. Independent course: not affiliated with or endorsed by GE HealthCare. GE, Revolution, Revolution EVO, Revolution Maxima, Optima, BrightSpeed, LightSpeed, Clarity and Performix are trademarks of their owner; other names are trademarks of their respective owners.

You know how a CT works. This course is about how these two GE scanners break and how you bring them back.

  • Revolution EVO and Maxima scanners are common in general hospitals, and engineers meet them with a generic CT background, a pre-installation manual and little else.
  • Calls end with an expensive tube, detector module or board replaced while the real cause was a cold phantom, a dirty filter, a loose heater connector, a sticking brush, a phase that bypassed the UPS or a patch cord in the table base.
  • After a big repair the rotor is not rebalanced, a laser cable is left damaged, the dose is not verified and the scanner goes back to the patient list on trust.
02

After the course you can

01Identify the system, table, console and generator option, name the assemblies on each side of the rotation boundary and trace the power, data and network paths.
02Explain what warm-up, air calibration, the daily phantom and the safety function checks prove, and recognise set-up errors before calling a fault.
03Carry out planned maintenance to the manufacturer's checklist with correct isolation, stored-energy and rotor precautions, and keep records that show trends.
04Locate faults from the first error in the log to one subsystem: scan aborts, tube and generator, detector and DAS artefacts, rotation and slip ring, table, console and network.
05Prepare and perform replacements at procedure level, choose the calibrations each repair requires and release the scanner only after image quality, dose, safety and records are complete.

Curriculum

01The platform: gantry, slip ring, X-ray chain, detector, table, console, power and network
Name every major assembly of a Revolution EVO or Revolution Maxima, say which side of the rotation boundary it sits on, how it is powered and connected, and which of its numbers you can take from the site documentation.

02Daily and periodic checks: warm-up, air calibration, phantom QA, dose and safety functions
Explain what each routine check on a Revolution EVO or Maxima proves, recognise when a failed check is a set-up error rather than a fault, and verify the safety functions without creating a hazard.
20 min
03Planned maintenance: gantry and slip ring, cooling and filters, table, cables, power and records
Plan and carry out a planned maintenance visit on a Revolution EVO or Maxima in a safe order, following the manufacturer's checklist, and leave a record that shows trends rather than ticks.
22 min
04Fault-finding: error log, scan aborts, tube and generator, detector artefacts, rotation, table and network
Take a Revolution EVO or Maxima fault from the operator's complaint to one subsystem and one replaceable unit, using the error log, the conditions of the failure and the cheapest test that separates the suspects.
25 min
05Replacements and return to service: tube, detector, brushes and other units, calibrations, verification and records
Prepare and carry out a unit replacement on a Revolution EVO or Maxima at procedure level, choose the calibrations and checks the repair requires, and release the scanner only when image quality, dose, safety functions and records are complete.

The certificate

Pass the exam and get a certificate of course completion with your name, hours and score. Every certificate has a unique number and a public verification page, so an employer or a customer can check it in one click. It confirms completion of the course; it is not an educational document (diploma) and not a manufacturer authorisation.

FAQ

Is this GE HealthCare training?

No. It is an independent course, not affiliated with or endorsed by GE HealthCare. GE, Revolution, Revolution EVO, Revolution Maxima, Optima, BrightSpeed, LightSpeed, Clarity and Performix are trademarks of their owner, and other names are trademarks of their respective owners. The course does not replace the manufacturer's procedures and does not grant authorisation, passwords, licences or access to service software.

Do I need the service manual?

You should have the manufacturer's service, pre-installation and operator documentation for the system you work on. The course explains and orders the work; the exact procedures, acceptance values, calibration lists and part numbers come from the documentation for your system and software revision.

Does it cover other GE CT scanners?

It is written for the Revolution EVO and Revolution Maxima. Much of it applies to the Revolution Ace, Optima CT680 Expert and Maxima Select, which share site documentation with the Maxima. Older lines such as BrightSpeed, LightSpeed and Optima, and the Revolution ACT, are mentioned only in general terms and where a field case teaches something that holds here.

Does it cover software reloads, tube registration and options?

Only at procedure level: who may do it, what to back up and what to check before and after. The steps themselves are the manufacturer's and are done by authorised personnel with the proper keys and media.

What about radiation safety?

Every exposure in the course is made with the room clear, the warning light and door interlock working and a personal dosimeter worn. Dose verification after repairs is arranged with a qualified medical physicist as local regulation requires.

What does the certificate say?

GE Revolution EVO and Maxima CT — Model Service (Endorsement), with your name, the hours, the date and your exam score, a unique number and a public verification page.

Can my company buy seats for a team?

Yes: five seats and a progress overview for the manager.
