Philips IntelliVue MX400–MX550 Patient Monitors — Model Service
Platform, safety and performance tests, maintenance, fault-finding and return to service on the MX400, MX450, MX500 and MX550
A model course for engineers who have passed Patient Monitor Service — Level 1. It takes the IntelliVue MX400, MX450, MX500 and MX550 apart on paper: the main unit and its boards, the MMS, extensions, plug-in modules and X2 on the measurement link, the network and central station, the safety, system and performance tests and their acceptance values, cleaning and battery care, fault-finding from LEDs, boot sequence and INOPs to one replaceable part, and a return to service with serial number, configuration, software and electrical safety handled correctly. Independent course: not affiliated with or endorsed by Philips. Philips and IntelliVue are trademarks of Koninklijke Philips N.V.; Masimo, Nellcor, Microstream and other names are trademarks of their respective owners.
You know how a monitor measures. This course is about how this family is built, tested and brought back.
- IntelliVue MX monitors sit in intensive care, theatres and wards everywhere, and engineers meet them with general monitoring knowledge and a service guide organised by test and by table rather than by the fault in front of them.
- Typical calls end with an MMS or a main board replaced while the real cause was a sensor from the wrong SpO2 technology, a pushed-back MSL pin, a software mismatch, a duplicated equipment label or a locked touch screen.
- After a board change the serial number is not reloaded, the touch is not calibrated, the hardware settings that a clone file does not carry are lost, alarms come back with the wrong settings and no leakage is measured.
After the course you can
Curriculum
Identify an IntelliVue MX400, MX450, MX500 or MX550 and its attached measurement devices, name the boards in the main unit and what each one carries, and know where settings, trends, logs and patient data live.free
20 min02Checks: visual, power-on, electrical safety, system test and performance assurance
Choose the right set of tests for a service event on an IntelliVue MX400-MX550, run the safety, system and parameter checks the service guide describes, and judge the results against the acceptance values with a proper record.25 min03Maintenance: cleaning, batteries, NBP and CO2 calibration, planned work and records
Plan and perform the planned maintenance of an IntelliVue MX400-MX550 with its MMS and extensions: cleaning with compatible agents, battery care and conditioning, NBP and CO2 calibration at the right intervals, and records that let the next engineer see trends.20 min04Troubleshooting: LEDs and boot, display and touch, INOPs, MMS and MSL, network and interference
Take an IntelliVue MX400-MX550 fault from the complaint to one replaceable board, cable, module or configuration item, using the front LEDs, the boot sequence, INOP messages, swap tests, the network icons and the status log.25 min05Repair and return to service: preparation, replacements, software and settings, tests and documentation
Prepare an IntelliVue MX400-MX550 or its MMS for repair, replace assemblies at procedure level, deal correctly with serial number, software, configuration and patient data, and release the monitor only after the tests the guide requires.25 min—Exam

FAQ
Is this Philips training?
No. It is an independent course, not affiliated with or endorsed by Philips. Philips and IntelliVue are trademarks of Koninklijke Philips N.V., and other names are trademarks of their respective owners. The course does not replace the manufacturer's procedures and does not grant authorisation, passwords, licences or access to service software.
Do I need the service guide?
You should have the manufacturer's service guide and Instructions for Use for the monitor and release you work on. The course explains and orders the work; the exact procedures, acceptance values and part numbers come from the documentation for your release.
Does it cover other IntelliVue monitors?
It is written for the MX400, MX450, MX500 and MX550 as described for release K.2, with their MMS, extensions and plug-in modules. Much of the method transfers to the MP series, the MX700 and MX800 and the X3, but their boards, tests and limits differ; use their own documentation.
Does it cover software upgrades, options and service mode?
Only at procedure level: who may do it, what to back up and what to check before and after. The steps, access and media are the manufacturer's and are used by authorised personnel.
What does the certificate say?
Philips IntelliVue MX400–MX550 Patient Monitors — Model Service (Endorsement), with your name, the hours, the date and your exam score, a unique number and a public verification page.
