Agfa CR 75.0: cassettes read but images never reach the workstation
What happened
Reported in the case: the Agfa CR 75.0 showed communication error 216A7. Cassettes were fed and read normally, but image data was not transmitted to the workstation, and patients kept piling up in the queue on the digitizer.
What was checked
- Checked the LAN cable between the digitizer and the workstation.
- Reviewed the cpf configuration file against the workstation settings using the manufacturer's CCM Tools.
- Verified the AE titles on both sides.
- Ran a DICOM echo test to confirm the connection.
- Reloaded the rebuilt cpf configuration into the digitizer and checked transmission.
Cause
As reported in the case, the network settings on the workstation had been changed on the site side; they no longer matched the digitizer's DICOM configuration, so error 216A7 appeared and processed images stayed queued instead of being transmitted.
What was done
The workstation network settings were corrected to match the agreed DICOM configuration. To bring the digitizer side back in line, the cpf configuration file was rebuilt with the manufacturer's CCM Tools and reloaded into the digitizer — a procedure from the manufacturer's service documentation, done by authorised personnel. Communication and image transfer were restored and the queued studies cleared; the outcome was reported as solved.
Safety
After any configuration change on an imaging device, verify the reader with a test phantom exposure and confirm normal image transfer before returning the system to clinical use.
Lesson: When a CR reader processes cassettes but images never reach the workstation, check the network and DICOM configuration match between reader and workstation (AE titles, cpf settings) before suspecting hardware.
