Schiller CS-200: treadmill will not start after repeated beeps

What happened

As reported in the case: at power-on the stress system emitted five beeps and shut down. After the PC backup batteries (reported as located under the printer) were replaced, the computer booted normally, but the treadmill refused to start from the button in the software, and pressing the mains button produced repeating audible signals.

What was checked

Cause

The engineers found that the treadmill was sitting in a latched lockout state that requires service attention: the drive side had blocked starting, which is why the computer worked while the belt refused to run and kept signalling.

What was done

The lockout was cleared with the manufacturer's service software — a procedure from the manufacturer's service documentation, done by authorised personnel. After the reset the treadmill started normally from the program; the case was reported as solved.

Safety

Isolate the system from the mains and confirm no stored energy before opening the console or drive unit, keep hands clear of the belt and drive, and complete electrical safety testing before returning this patient-connected system to clinical use.

Lesson: A treadmill that boots the computer but refuses to start while repeating a sound signal is often in a protective service lockout, so read the system's service state before swapping hardware.
