Siemens Arcadis Avantic: no link to C-arm, generator will not start

What happened

Mobile C-arm lost communication between the stand and the C-arm, the generator would not start, and collimator errors appeared (codes 7150 and 7054 as reported in the case). A software reinstall and a hard disk swap changed nothing.

What was checked

Cause

In this case the engineers found the second of the two disks in the system unit left disconnected, and the interface cables seated in the wrong ports — per the diagram, one output must stay unconnected. Together these broke the stand-to-C-arm link and kept the generator from starting.

What was done

Reconnected the second disk and restored the interface wiring exactly as shown on the diagram on the side cover of the system unit; communication with the C-arm and generator start returned, the fault was cleared.

Safety

Disconnect the system from the mains before opening the unit, and run the manufacturer's electrical safety checks (protective earth continuity and leakage currents) before returning the C-arm to clinical use.

Lesson: When a communication fault survives a software reinstall, stop swapping parts and check every connector and disk in the unit against the wiring diagram on the cabinet.
