Konica Minolta DryPro 873: film size will not change
What happened
The imager would not let the engineers change the film size to 8×10, neither at the device nor in the connected software, even though the tray had been reloaded with the correct size.
What was checked
- Checked the tray: empty, with the 8×10 film loaded as intended
- Tried to change the format from the printer's own software
- Reviewed the print queue on the printer itself
- Connected a monitor and mouse to the print server and checked its state via PrintLink
Cause
A job for the old tray/format was stuck in the print queue, and the printer blocked any film size change while that job was pending.
What was done
The engineers loaded a different film format so the printer could output the stuck job; once the queue was clear, the size changed normally both at the printer and in the connected imaging software.
Safety
Keep the light-tight covers and the laser exposure unit closed while the imager is powered, and confirm all panels and interlocks are back in place before returning it to use.
Lesson: If a film size will not change after reloading a tray, clear or complete pending print jobs first — a queued job for the old format can lock the size setting.
